Access for All
At Access the Alpine, we firmly acknowledge that the outdoor space is not a level playing field for everyone. Inequality within outdoor recreation is a complex issue that encompasses various factors and affects diverse groups of people. Marginalized communities may face discriminatory practices, lack of representation, and cultural barriers that prevent them from fully participating in and enjoying outdoor recreation. Additionally, some individuals, due to socioeconomic barriers or geographic limitations, may not have the same opportunities to engage in outdoor activities as others. By actively promoting inclusivity and breaking down barriers, we can aspire towards an outdoor space that offers equal opportunities for everyone to thrive.
If you believe in what we are doing here, please donate. Any and all donations get put back into these programs.
Subsidized Courses
This is available for anyone who needs it, no questions asked, and no strings attached. There are a limited amount of these available per season but we try to accept as many as we financially can. The subsidized courses are the exact experience you would have if you paid full price but it is just a little more affordable. There are a couple of different pricing options, please pick one that you can afford.
Complementary Courses
A limited number of complimentary courses are made available each season and we'd love for each of them to go to good homes.
This one is on us. Enjoy a trip free of charge. We believe that everyone, regardless of where they are coming from, deserves a few days in the mountains. We recognize our community experiences different levels of financial comfort — that aren’t always equitable or fair. So, paying to mountaineer, climb, or canyoneer isn’t always manageable. This is just one tool we offer to attempt to provide some balance.
These complimentary trips are available to anyone who needs it, no questions asked, and no strings attached. All that we'd like to mention is that if you can afford regular admission please choose that route instead, and leave these trips for those who will benefit most.
Additionally, we have Subsidized Courses available if you are able to pay some, but maybe not all, of the course fees.
Applicants are awarded these trips at random.
