Mount Baker Maps

In this post, I am psyched to share my current map of Mount Baker. I am attempting to make it the most comprehensive collection of digital routes on the mountain. Check out the map below.

Mount Baker - Caltopo

I did not track all of these by any means. I have tracked a good amount but I was also able to scrape the internet a bunch and compile what I found. I am often up on Mount Baker a lot anyway and do try and make sure everything is accurate to the best of my abilities. All of these maps will continue to be added to. Specifically I have been attempting to take photos of every tent site around and upload them with their location into the map.

Make sure to check out the Custom Layering on the right for different terrain modeling options. Also, on the left of all the maps you can alter the current avalanche forecast by creating rules so that the current rose will be displayed on your desired terrain. A note on adding the avalanche forecast. Make sure you are not using the directional degrees that are the option on caltopo. If N-facing aspects are affected then you must use the applicable 22.5-degree increment, for N it would be 337.5 - 22.5. DO NOT just use "N" or your information will be incorrect. For degree reference, I have listed them below.

N: 337.5-22.5

NE:22.5-67.5

E: 67.5-112.5

SE: 112.5-157.5

S: 157.5-202.5

SW: 202.5-247.5

W: 247.5-292.5

NW: 292.5-337.5

If you have any doubts about how to use it then just use the "Avalanche Terrain" layer and figure out the aspect and elevation separately.

Additionally, download Google Earth Pro! Export these maps as a KML and then import them into your program.
